Call for Papers 2025

November 7th-9th, 2025 online sessions

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 2025 edition of "Children of the Night International Dracula Congress”. This year, participants are invited to join the ONLINE on November 7th - 9th, 2025 via Zoom.

Due to various circumstances, this year we will not meet in Brașov, but we are hoping to return to Transylvania next year.

We invite everyone who is interested in speaking at the 2025 conference to submit an abstract of 150 - max. 250 words plus a meaningful title indicating the planned content of your presentation to [email protected]. The official language of the conference is English. The abstracts must be submitted by email and fit the conference main topics (please, have a look at the slider with 8 workshops). Deadline for abstract’s submissions: September 20th, 2025.

Also, remember to dust your Vampire/Dracula/Gothic costume for our annual Costume Contest (Yes, we can do it online too!).

Conference is free of charge.

If you are interested to speak at the conference but have no abstract ready yet, please send us a short email, so that we have you on our radar. The earlier we know who would like to participate in the conference, the better we can plan it.

Approval

All submitted abstracts are subject to approval by our Scientific Committee. Review will take place continuously and may take 2 weeks (longer in the summertime).

A conference series organised by the foremost scholars in the field of Gothic and Vampire Studies.

"Children of the Night International Dracula Congress" series is a non-profit academic initiative founded by international scholars and supported by worldwide renowned Dracula experts.

Our aim is to present ground-breaking research on Bram Stoker, his novel Dracula, Gothic and Horror Studies and related topics on an annual basis.

Participation is open to everyone who has a truly interesting presentation to make. Moreover, the conferences feature artistic contests and are accompanied by a cultural program.

With 250 pages and many high-quality illustrations in color, it is a milestone in our efforts to build a platform for international, interdisciplinary Dracula Studies, together with Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania, and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin, Poland.

This volume analyses the role of Bram Stoker’s Dracula and its sequels in the evolution of the Gothic. As well as the transformation of the Gothic location—from castles, cemeteries and churches to the modern urban gothic—this volume explores the evolution of the undead considering a range of media from the 19^th century protagonist to sympathetic contemporary vampires of teen Gothic. Based on an interdisciplinary approach (literature, tourism, and film), the book argues that the development of the Dracula myth is the result of complex international influences and cultural interactions. Offering a multifarious perspective, this volume is a reference work that will be useful to both academic and general readers.
