Join us for 2022 Virtual Dracula Congress! November 18th-20th 2022.

Sean Rourke, an editor in the Hollywood Film Industry with credits on such projects as 'Avengers Infinity War', 'Loki', 'Hawkeye', 'The Suicide Squad', and 'Red Notice', interviewed the organisers of "Children of the Night" International Dracula Congress, for his YouTube channel The Vampire’s Castle. In the interview, Magdalena Grabias (Poland), Florin Nechita (Romania), Enrique A. Palafox (Mexico) and Yuri Garcia (Brasil) talk about the forthcoming 2022 edition of the congress.

How the idea developed

In September 2016, Dr Florin Nechita, Lecturer for Marketing, Advertising and Branding at the Transilvania University of Brașov, invited Dracula expert, researcher and author Hans Corneel de Roos to have the next World Dracula Congress hosted at his university. This series of symposia had been staged by the Transylvanian Society of Dracula since 1995; Hans was the initiator of the Fourth World Dracula Congress held at Trinity College Dublin in October 2016, and Dr Magdalena Grabias, a Dracula scholar from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Poland, joined as an organiser.

However, during the Dublin event, it was announced that the Romanian TSD branch, in whose name the conference was held, would become a part of the US-Canadian chapter, thus leaving Europe without an effective conference organization.

Hans de Roos and Magdalena Grabias, the organisers of the Dublin conference, promptly proposed the creation of a new international series of Dracula conferences, to be supported by the foremost scholars in the field, independent of their academic affiliations. The idea was discussed with the conference participants, whose enthusiastic response encouraged Hans and Magdalena to form a brand new initiative group: The Children of the Night.

This new interdisciplinary conference series were then scheduled to be held every second year in Brașov, in the centre of Romania – thanks to the support of Dr Florin Nechita. Due to the ongoing COVID crisis, the October 2020 event had to be rescheduled and finally took place as a virtual event on 16, 17 and 18 April April 2021.

The 2022 November virtual edition of the Congress is being organised by Magdalena Grabias (Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland), Florin Nechita (Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania), Enrique A Palafox (Doctor in Modern Literature & a Creative Designer based in Mexico City and initiator of The Dracula Store) and Yuri Garcia (State University of Rio de Janeiro in Brasil.)

The Dracula Store

Visit The Dracula store HERE.

The Dracula Store was created from a collection of products, souvenirs, and merchandise inspired by the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. As a result of Academic Research, the idea of the store came up as there has been a long-time unfulfilled desire for Dracula by Bram Stoker-related products. The finished items are the outcome of a detailed visual and academic investigation of the author, the novel, and the circumstances around this memorable Book.

Welcome to The Dracula Store. Enter freely and of your own free will!
