2018 Conference Schedule

We have three days available for academic meetings and artistic activities/contests (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday), including a guided walking tour through Brasov, excursions or joint cultural activities (Saturday). The mornings will be reserved for the welcome addresses and the keynote speakers, while all other speakers will speak in the afternoon. Both in the mornings and the afternoons, there will be breaks for coffee and tea.

At the end of the academic sessions, all participants will receive an official diploma.

About Us

A conference series organised by the foremost scholars in the field of Gothic and Vampire Studies.

"Children of the Night International Dracula Congress" series is a non-profit academic initiative founded by international scholars and supported by worldwide renowned Dracula experts.

Our aim is to present ground-breaking research on Bram Stoker, his novel Dracula, Gothic and Horror Studies and related topics on an annual basis.

Participation is open to everyone who has a truly interesting presentation to make. Moreover, the conferences feature artistic contests and are accompanied by a cultural program.

2024 INETRNATIONAL DRACULA CONGRESS!

This year we will meet ONLINE on Zoom on October 25-26 and IN PERSON in Brașov, Romania on October 31-November 2.

Many scholars who participated in our series of conferences - starting with the Fourth World Dracula Congress in Dublin, October 2016 - contributed to this volume. With 250 pages and many high-quality illustrations in color, it is a milestone in our efforts to build a platform for international, interdisciplinary Dracula Studies, together with Transilvania University of Brașov, Romania, and Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin, Poland.

This volume analyses the role of Bram Stoker’s Dracula and its sequels in the evolution of the Gothic. As well as the transformation of the Gothic location—from castles, cemeteries and churches to the modern urban gothic—this volume explores the evolution of the undead considering a range of media from the 19^th century protagonist to sympathetic contemporary vampires of teen Gothic. Based on an interdisciplinary approach (literature, tourism, and film), the book argues that the development of the Dracula myth is the result of complex international influences and cultural interactions. Offering a multifarious perspective, this volume is a reference work that will be useful to both academic and general readers.
